Noor Alshaikha

Class of 2023


Noor Alshaikh is a second-year student in the MAAS program from Bahrain. Noor earned her bachelor’s degree in business management from the Lebanese American University. As an undergraduate student, she was recognized as a Tomorrow’s Leaders Scholar and received a scholarship from the Middle East Partnership Initiative to complete her degree. Following her graduation in 2017, Noor worked in the cultural sector in Bahrain with multiple organizations, including the Ministry of Culture and Antiquities. She then dedicated her time to research, publishing chapters on political developments in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait for the annual publication The Gulf: The Constant and the Changing produced by the Gulf Center for Development Policies. She also published a chapter that explores the pedagogy and politics of Arabic as a foreign language with the UAE Ministry of Culture. During her first year at Georgetown, Noor co-taught Arabic as a foreign language, and she is currently working on research projects on Iraq with Dr. Rochelle Davis. She is also working on writing her masters thesis on urban marginality, activism and identity this year.
